DCSG signs MOU with Japanese GreenIT Promotions Council
The BCS Data Centre Specialist Group has recently signed an MOU with GIPC (Japanese 'GreenIT Promotions Council'), the home of JDCC (Japan Data Center Council). The two groups have been working together for some time now around the development of energy efficiency, sustainability and productivity metrics for the data centre.
The DCSG chairman is a representative for the EU along side Paolo Betholdi of the EC-JRC on the Global Metrics Harmonisation Task Force, a group that meets by conference every two weeks and consists of representatives from The Green Grid, the US-EPA, US-DoE, Lawence Berekley Labs, METI (Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry). The group meets for a face to face meeting twice a year.
Most recently a face to face meeting was held in Tokyo, which provided an opportunity to meet and talk with Mr Hasegawa (Deputy Secretary General of GIPC) and Dr Shiino (Director of JDCC) both pictured here.
GIPC made a press release that can be read here.
