DCSG Chair to speak at 5th Power and Cooling for Data Centres conference
Zahl Limbuwala, Chair of DCSG, will be speaking at the 5th Power and Cooling for Data Centres conference on 'The Future of Metrics'
A look at what's in use now, why some things work and what they are useful for and to whom. A review of the other metrics in development around the world and a 'BCS' view on their comparable values, issues, challenges, etc. What we really want/need from metrics in the data centre and IT sector and the challenges of getting there.
This presentation includes the 'up to the moment' view from within the global metrics harmonisation task force from a general perspective so people can get a good idea on which way the thinking is going internationally.
BroadGroup research has found that Power represents an average of 56% of operating cost across Data Centres, amplified in a recent survey conducted by the group, which revealed cost reduction as the number one objective of data centre operators in the next financial year. The Power and Cooling for Data Centres annual event (7-8 October 2010, London) will showcase new innovations that will help to reduce cost for users, and increase green efficiency in data centres. In a content-led programme packed with insight and the very latest information, the conference will assess the most innovative range of solutions and technologies that claim to bring green solutions to the data centre. Expertise drawn from both North America and Europe will contribute to the discussion of critical topics that inform the power and cooling debate. Power and Cooling dominates the agenda for all data centres worldwide, and what measures are available now to reduce both consumption and carbon emissions as well as increase cooling capacity will be central to the challenge.
