Zahl

Zahl Limbuwala

BEng(Hons), MIET, MBCS, CEng, CITP

 

  Zahl has been in the information technology and telecoms sectors for over 15 years. Holding senior operational management posts in both FTSE100 and pre-IPO startups. Having a strong academic engineering background, Zahl has worked in real-time systems, process control engineering, software development, managed IT services, system integration in both public and private sector. Zahl also has strong international experience having worked in central Europe, North America and Asia. Zahl now provides strategic planning advise within the data centre/managed services/service provider world. Zahl has been involved with the evolution of the data centre over the last 10 years and founded the DCSG after realising the industry needed an independent body through which it could develop and share best practice. Zahl speaks regularly on behalf of the BCS and DCSG at public events and conferences in the information technology sector.

Paul Latham

MBA MBCS 

 

  Paul has been working in IT for over 10 years, starting at the sharp end on a call desk for a City firm. Working his way up, he eventually ran a managed hosting datacentre and 24/7 team for over 6 years.

He is now an independent consultant with experience in outsourcing and Government Security requirements, along with expertise on the challenges facing the hosting\datacentre industry.

Mandeep

Mandeep Jandu

MBCS, CITP, CEng

 

  Mandeep started his career with the an industrial placement that really introduced the real world of Computing Power to him. His first employer was a German Chemical Giant, and Mandeeps role was to provide support and services to over 700 staff UK-Wide whilst the Mainframe was being decommissioned and in its place new Windows technology was being introduced. One of the highlights with this employer was the transition of the IT dept forming into its own company. From here, Mandeep left to join a new start-up Datacenter Company providing Neutral Internet Co-location Facilities to ISPs, ASPS and Corporates. Mandeep Joined as a Level II Technician and progressed to become Datacenter Team Leader. Whilst at this company Mandeep gained his MSc in Business Computing from the University of Westminster and with this he leapt to join one of the Worlds Finest Investment Banks providing First Class Financial Services. Within the Banks IT Department, Mandeep has joined the DataCenter Infrastructure Team and is responsible for the New and Existing European Offices Comms Facilities.Of course this entails whizzing around the necessary countries. Mandeep will be celebrating his 10th Year in IT this year in July  Mandeep is an MBCS, CITP and CEng with the BCS.

Rakesh Kumar

MBCS

 

  

Rakesh Kumar is a vice president in Gartner Research, where he specializes in large-scale enterprise computing strategies. With more than 18 years of international experience, he is a recognised leader in data center architectures, infrastructure, high availability and operational processes. Mr. Kumar is also leading the research in Data Center power and cooling issues and is an established international authority in environmental and 'Green' IT strategies

Mr. Kumar joined Gartner in April 2005 with the acquisition of META Group, where he was senior vice president and co-research director (EMEA). In this position, apart from his core research areas, he drove changes in the European research organization and was instrumental in delivering META Group’s leading Operations Excellence transformation program. Before META Group, he was EMEA marketing manager for Hewlett-Packard’s commercial Unix and NT business. Mr. Kumar has also held various positions with IBM in software development, sales and consultancy management.

Liam Newcombe

  Liam Newcombe, with over 14 years experience in IT infrastructure, software development and solution design Liam has delivered services and products used by many of the UK’s biggest businesses. Liam has held a wide variety of roles ranging from operational management to product engineering. Liam is also an advocate of driving up the level of professionalism in the IT industry through the use of sound engineering practices. He has brought to market a number of data centre based product offerings for businesses such as Digital Island and Cable & Wireless. Today Liam consults on solution architecture and enables businesses to truly understand the relationship between their requirements and the way technology can best fulfil those requirements.

David Bruce

MBCS

 

  David Bruce is an independent consultant with over 11 years of industry experience. David has experience working within the Defence and Telecommunications sector. He has specified, built and operated datacentres within the US, mainland Europe and Britain. Dave has also spent time within the product engineering group of a major telco and was responsible for a number of product launches within their managed IT services portfolio.

Ian Hammond

MBCS

 

  Ian is an ITIL certified, process driven IT professional with over 15 years experience delivering and operating solutions and services in the media, finance, telecoms and most recently the dotcom/ISP sectors. At Cable & Wireless Ian was Head of Engineering and Operational support for web hosting and was responsible for the day to day running of in excess of 2000 devices across 3 data centres. Ian is currently the Customer Programme Director EMEA at RealNetworks Inc.

Kate Craig-Wood

MBCS
  Kate has always had a deep interest in science, technology and business. She taught herself a smattering of programming languages and Web technologies, and after completing her MSc is in Biomedical science joined Arthur Andersen business consulting as IT consultant. She went on to head business development for Easyspace Ltd., one of the UK's largest Web hosting companies, and subsequently formed Memset with her brother, Nick, in late 2002.

Memset has grown steadily since inception, and Kate's foci on technology, innovation and corporate social responsibility have helped to secure Memset's position as a leading dedicated hosting provider. Memset is Britain's first Carbon Neutral ISP, has been voted best UK Web host two years running (2006 & 2007) and has recently won a number of other awards for innovation and IT strategy.

Kate also takes an active interest in local & national business affairs. Her other positions include being a director of the Surrey Chambers of Commerce, a committee member of the Institute of Directors West Surrey branch, and most significantly is a director of Intellect UK, the UK's high-tech trade association. She is also part of Intellect's directorial leadership group on energy & efficiency.
