With Energy Efficiency and the "Green Data Centre" currently a hot topic being worked on within the DCSG, we are branching out into other areas of the BCS in an effort to support the bigger "Green IT" agenda. The OSSG (Open Source Specialist Group) have posed themselves the question "Is Open Source more environmentally friendly?" and have asked the DCSG to present on what our group is doing in the contexted of environmental impact and awareness.

At a joint event to be held on the 14th May 2007 the two groups will share their experiences and debate the role open source could have in respect to this subject. DCSG members are welcome to attend the event where Zahl Limbuwala (DCSG - Chairman) will be presenting the DCSG's role in the efficient use of energy in the data centre environment. For further details and registration for this event please see our events calendar.
