Thank you for your interest in joining the Data Centre Specialist Group. The group is an official entity that exists within the British Computer Society and follows a constitution that has been laid out to govern its operation.

Joining the Data Centre Specialist Group is simple!

If you are an existing BCS member, joining our group is free. You simply need to email your name, membership number and the specialist group you’d like to join (in this case the DCSG) to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it and your details will be added to our member distribution list.  You will then automatically receive invites to attend our meetings and events.

If you are not currently a member you first need to join the BCS and then membership to the DCSG is free. Joining the BCS has many other benefits including the ability to apply for Chartered IT Professional status should your experience and academic qualifications satisfy the minimum criteria.

Don’t worry if you are new to the world of IT and not quite ready to become a chartered member, the BCS has membership levels starting at ‘Affiliate’ for which the twenty pounds a year membership fee would still qualify for free entry into the DCSG.

The DCSG is managed by an elected committee consisting of seven positions that are opened for nominations once a year 28 days prior to our annual AGM in March (we are currently accepting nominations for the 2008 AGM). All the committee positions are voluntary but do carry the commitment of attending and contributing to the monthly committee meetings held normally of an evening in London. If you are interested in joining the committee please contact the current chairman at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
